• Welcome to the English Language Arts Page for WP Schools

Please take a moment to review our curriculum and resources outlined below. It is only through a strong home-school partnership that the students of Woodland Park will truly be successful. Thank you for your support as we work together for the betterment of the children.

    Our Literacy Program

The Woodland Park Public Schools literacy program provides a balanced instructional approach which includes the use of authentic and rich children's literature, work in leveled texts for guided reading, introduction to patterns and sounds through phonics, vocabulary and spelling instruction, and experience and practice in effective writing traits within the reading and writing workshop model.

Our administration and faculty recognize that children enter literacy stages at different developmental points in time, and our curriculum is designed to be responsive to these developmental stages. Our differentiated workshop approach, along with meaningful data-driven assessments, allows teachers to plan reading and writing experiences appropriate for each child's stage of development.

Woodland Park Schools populates our LinkIt! data warehousing platform with data generated from universal screening (Dibels 8th edition) and other assessments to target instructional resources within our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) to build teaching models for English language arts in all grades.
