This year our music program has expanded to include a band class for every grade level and a Jazz Band. Read through the options below and click on the links for more information.- After School Beginner Band: Students in 5th grade with no prior band experience are welcome to join After School Beginner Band. Students enrolled in Beginner Band will learn how to play a band instrument of their choice, read music and perform in two concerts. Beginner Band rehearsals are every Thursday after school until 3:30, and lessons are held during school. For more information, click the Beginner Band link on the left or click here.
- 5th Grade Beginner Band Class: Students signed up for 5th grade band class will meet every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during 4th period. Students in this class will follow the same curriculum as after school beginner band, but have more time with Mr. Schaefer to focus on learning their instrument. - Sixth Grade Band Class: Band students in sixth grade will meet every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during 7th period. For more information, click the sixth grade band link on the left.
- Seventh Grade Band Class: Band students in seventh grade will meet every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during 3rd period. Seventh grade band and eighth grade band will also combine on Tuesdays after school until 3:45 for Symphonic Band practice. For more information, click the Symphonic Band link on the left.
- Eighth Grade Band Class: Band students in eighth grade will meet every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during 8th period. Eighth grade band and seventh grade band will also combine on Tuesdays after school until 3:45 for Symphonic Band practice. For more information, click the Symphonic Band link on the left.
- Jazz Band: Jazz Band meets after school on Mondays until 3:45. Jazz Band members will learn how to play a variety of jazz styles and focus on playing advanced rhythms and solos. Students in 7th and 8th grade band are welcome to join, as well as any students who know how to play the drum kit, electric bass, guitar, or piano. 6th grade students in band can audition if there are any open spots. - 5th & 6th Grade Chorus: 5th & 6th Grade chorus meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays during 9th period. Chorus members will improve their voices by learning proper singing technique, learn how to read music, learn to sight-sing short songs, and perform in several concerts throughout the year. 7th & 8th Grade Chorus: 7th & 8th Grade chorus meets on Mondays and Tuesdays during 9th period. Chorus members will continue to improve their voices by practicing proper singing technique, learn how to read music, learn to sight-sing songs, and perform a variety of songs in several concerts throughout the school year.
